These benefits extend beyond language learning into other areas of their education.
6. Incorporate Their Interests
Tailored Content: I aim to align our lessons with students’ hobbies, interests, and current events that resonate with them. By making the content relevant, we can enhance engagement and motivation. It is crucial to create lessons and bring in material they want to learn about, the motivation will happen automatically!
Projects: I encourage students to undertake projects that allow them to delve into topics they are passionate about in Spanish. This not only reinforces their language skills but also fosters a sense of ownership and excitement about their learning journey. I love to use Project-Based Learning for this class. I have created a project for many topics and at least two for every unit.
7. Use Level Appropriate Material
I have walked into many classes where students are bored because the material is just too easy. If you teach this class make sure you feel confident and are prepared to do so. Students need to feel like they can learn something from you.
